Flint is part of Michigan
Every Michigan region shares one system — the same maps, the same live radar, the same climate record. The Thumb sticks out into Lake Huron on three sides, which gives it lake-effect snow off the lake and a growing season a fortnight longer than the counties inland. Flint itself is far enough from the water to get the cold without the snow — and the 1953 Flint-Beecher tornado, the last F5 in Michigan, is still the state's deadliest.
